Appeal by the Deputy PGM for GWAAC help

Our Deputy PGM, Richard Lewis is appealing for your support for the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity during the COVID-19 Crisis.

Richard says, “Having volunteered for GWAAC over a number of years I see how much your support and generosity means to the Charity and the local community it serves.  Many people still don’t realise that it is a Charity.  It receives no money from the Government for day to day running costs and no money from the National Lottery yet it requires £4M a year to stay operational so that it can provide the life saving skills and equipment to seriously ill and injured patients 7 days a week, 365 days a year.”

“In these unprecedented times the Charity is glad it is able to support their NHS colleagues and tackle this virus together as a team.  The Critical Care Team continue to adapt to this ever-changing environment, in order to deliver the best care to the local communities and support the NHS in a fight against the virus.  As well as having a full critical care team on duty to stand ready to attend to emergency call-outs, GWAAC are supporting the NHS by providing Specialist Paramedics, who will use their advanced skills in critical care to assist with transferring intensive care COVID-19 patients requiring advanced respiratory support and supporting other front line workers with the 24/7 Trauma advice line.

Thank you for your support.”
